Layer Lock is a key used to change from one layer to another. You'll stay in the new layer until you press a different Layer Lock key.
Layer Lock works by tapping the key (no need to hold it, like you had to do on "Layer Shift"). Once you tap it, the new layer will be activated, and all your keys will change to be the ones you have set up for that layer using Bazecor.
How to configure Layer Lock step by step:
Step 0: Make sure your Bazecor is up to date. Download and install the latest version here.
Step 1: Open Bazecor, connect to the keyboard, and go to the layer you want to edit.
Step 2: Click on the key where you want to have the Layer Lock function.
Step 3: In the Key Config Menu, select "Layers" tab.
Step 4: On the "Layer Lock" section, click on the layer # you want to Lock into.
Step 5: Click on "Apply changes" and then "Save".
Important: Don't forget to assing a "Layer Lock" in the second layer that takes you back to the first layer. Otherwise, you will be trapped in the new layer.
Example: Making a thumb key move back and forth between Layer 1 and Layer 2:
1. In Layer 1, to set up the key as "Layer Lock 2"
2. In Layer 2, to set up the key as "Layer Lock 1"
This animation shows the same steps we explained in the step by step guide, applied to this example: In Layer 1, we set a thumb key that Locks to Layer 2. Now, when you're in layer 1 and you press and release that thumb key, the layer will change to Layer 2 and all the keys in Layer 2 will be accessible. You will stay in that layer permanently. We will also set a Layer Lock in Layer 2's thumb key, that does a Layer Lock to layer 1. When you tap that key, you will move back to layer 1 and stay there.
What Layer Lock looks like:
In the example shown in this animation, you can see a Layer Lock key on the second to last Left Control key. When you press and release it, your Raise changes to a different layer with different LED lighting. When you press the same key again and release it, it changes back to the first layer.
* In older Bazecor versions, "Layer Lock" was called "Move To Layer". And in even older Bazecor versions, it was called "Lock To Layer".
