Layer Shift is a key used to change from one layer to another only while you hold it.
Layer Shift works by pressing and holding the key. While holding it, you’ll be able to use any key on the layer you've shifted to. Once you release it, you’ll go back to the initial layer.
How to configure Layer Shift step by step:
Step 0: Make sure your Bazecor is up to date. Download and install the latest version here.
Step 1: Open Bazecor, connect to the keyboard, and go to the layer you want to edit.
Step 2: Click on the key where you want to have the Layer Shift function.
Step 3: In the Key Config Menu, select "Layers" tab.
Step 4: On the "Layer Shift" section, click on the layer # you want to shift to.
Step 5: Click on "Apply changes" and then "Save".
Example: Making a thumb key [in Layer 1] be a Layer Shift [to layer 2]:
This animation shows the same steps we explained in the step by step guide, applied to this example: In Layer 1, we set a thumb key that Shifts to Layer 2. Now, when you're in layer 1 and you press and hold that thumb key, the layer will change to Layer 2 and all the keys in Layer 2 will be accessible while you hold it. Once you let go of that key, you will be brought back to Layer 1.
What Layer Shift looks like:
In the example shown in this animation, you can see two different Layer Shift keys on the Left Control keys. When you hold them, your Raise changes to different layers with different LED lighting for each layer. When you let them go, the Raise goes back to your original layer.
* In older Bazecor versions, "Layer Shift" was called "Layer Switch". And in even older Bazecor versions, it was called "Shift to layer".
