How to remove the stabilizers in the Dygma Raise and Raise 2
The Dygma Raise and Raise 2 use plate-mounted stabilizers, which means they are clipped onto the top metal plate of the keyboard. Screw-in stabilizers are not compatible with the Raise.
To remove the stabilizers, you first need to remove the keycaps and switches using the keycap-switch puller. You’ll need to use a thin tool to unclip the stabilizers.
To put it back, simply clip it back in.
How to remove the stabilizers in the Dygma Defy
The Dygma Defy also uses plate-mounted stabilizers for the biggest thumbkey. To replace or reposition the stabilizers on the Dygma Defy, you'd need to open the keyboard.
Here's a video on the whole process of disassembling the keyboard: https://youtu.be/2Ip3J1z2G3A
As for the tools, you only need the keycap/ switch puller and an M2 Screwdriver.
Here are the steps needed:
- Disconnect the keyboard and turn each side off.
- Remove the switches and keycaps. I recommend leaving the keycaps in the same arrangement as on the keyboard; it will help with the reassembly.
- Remove the six screws at the bottom.
- Disconnect the flat ribbon cable that connects the two PCBs.
- Unscrew the keyscanner. Use the screwdriver to leave the stabilizers in place. I attached a video with a demonstration.
- The correct position of the stabilizer is shown in the video, but I've attached an image. Please pay attention to the position of the plastic legs and the metal rod I pointed to in the image.
- Once it's in place, mount the PCB.
- Connect the cable.
- Screw the base.
- Install the switches and mount the keycaps.
The big thumbkey on my Defy is rattling; how can I fix that
Sometimes, the big thumbkey on the Defy is not properly attached to the stabilizer.
To fix this, remove that keycap and carefully place it again: align the keycap over the stems and then apply pressure gradually from both ends of the keycap at the same time until it's completely inserted.
It should look like this:
